The Rural Libraries Roundtable (RLRT) of NYLA is pleased to offer a Conference Scholarship to encourage rural librarians (professional degree not required), currently a member of RLRT, to participate in the NYLA Conference this year.

 

RLRT’s Statement of Purpose is as follows – The purpose of the NYLA Rural Libraries Roundtable is to enable librarians, library managers, friends and trustees of rural libraries to keep in touch with each other as well as assist NYLA in its mission and goals. This roundtable should be of interest to libraries of all types including public, school, small urban branches, special and corporate, and small academic.

Defining characteristics of “rural libraries”:

  • Limited service population
  • Limited budget
  • One-person/minimal staff
  • Geographically isolated
  • Other

 

The award is $250.00, which includes full conference registration.   Award recipients are selected by the RLRT Scholarship Committee.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

You need to be a current member of RLRT to apply.  Professional Degree is not required.

 

Application, in the form of a letter, must include:

  • Why you wish to attend the Conference
  • How you plan to integrate the experience into your work
  • How you plan to share your experience with your fellow professionals
  • How the award will influence your professional goals.

 

Applicants must submit receipts, proof of reimbursement by other sources and a one page report on their experiences within 30 days after the conference.
