Summary:
Schools are being hit hard with copyright infringement issues. This presentation is essential for school administrators and staff to learn as much as possible regarding copyright and keeping
their schools copyright compliant. Educate school administrators and staff in applying fair use and copyright concepts in this challenging digital age. This full-day workshop focuses on use, re-use and reproduction of copyrighted material (print and internet download); public domain; media streaming; “derivative” vs. “transformative” uses; application of U.S. Copyright Act Sections 107 (fair use) and 110 (TEACH Act and face-to-face teaching); use of materials from Netflix, YouTube, Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, museum and other websites; inter-library loans, e-reserves; first sale doctrine; 3-D printers, Creative Commons licensing, educator and school liability issues; and more. All are discussed in the context of day-to-day instructional activities, content creation/multi-media projects, student performances, sporting events and more. Common sense rules are discussed through guided instruction and small group activities. Includes a one-hour Q&A session.
