The MLIS program in the iSchool at Syracuse University will be hosting a Resume Review & Mock Interview Workshop to give students a chance to receive feedback from information professionals as they begin or continue their job search process. This workshop will take place online to support the iSchool’s distance students (and if there is a typical Syracuse snow storm, no one will have to drive anywhere!).
The workshop will be held on Feb. 27 and will begin with a live streamed Adobe Connect session (instructions for accessing Adobe Connect will be provided via email), after which paired reviewers and students interested in a similar field or career path will connect with each other. The RSVP form will give you the opportunity to select how you would like to communicate with your student: via Skype, Google Hangout, or by phone.
Reviewers are asked to work with the students’ resumes and provide comments and feedback. During the last portion, reviewers will work with the students on interview skills. The iSchool organizers will provide some resources that can be used to help guide the discussion. Participants will be provided with the student’s resume and a sample job description by email in advance of the event.
The workshop will be held entirely online, on Saturday, February 27, 10am-12pm.
If you are able to join us, please RSVP here: http://goo.gl/forms/mZW8bL3UQu
If you know of other professionals that you think may be interested please feel free to pass along this information and the RSVP form. We would like to be able to provide as many students as possible with the opportunity to participate. This program has been successful with our friends at the University of Maryland so we’re hoping it will work here as well.
