More than 3,500 pages of historic newspapers covering the greater Auburn area are now available for free online use at NYS Historic Newspapers.

These newspapers were recently added to the statewide historic newspaper site and are available for use by family historians, researchers, faculty, students, local historians, and anyone interested in Auburn’s rich history. The newspapers can be searched by keyword or date, and articles can be saved or printed for future use.

Titles included are the Auburn Free Press, Journal & Advertiser, Corrector, Voice of the People, and Weekly American.

The NYS Historic Newspapers project provides free online access to a wide range of newspapers chosen to reflect New York’s unique history. It currently features 4.2 million newspaper pages, ranging from in date from 1795 to 2013.

The Auburn newspapers were made available through the New York State Library and the NY 3Rs Association.
