Museums Connect: Building Global Communities is designed to strengthen connections and cultural understanding between people in the United States and abroad through collaborative and innovative projects facilitated by museums. Initiative partners are the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Grants, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, are available to partnerships consisting of at least one U.S. museum and one non-U.S. museum.

All project proposals must relate to the master theme of Youth Engagement and Social Inclusion. Projects should also address one of the following sub-themes:
* Empowering Women and Girls
* Environmental Sustainability
* Countering Extremism
* Expanding Access to Quality Education
* Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship.

Deadlines:
Museum profile forms are due by January 4, 2016. Statements of intent to propose from museums that do not have a partner are due February 29, 2016; statements of intent to propose from museums with established partnerships are due March 10, 2016.
