News for your library trustees.
The 2015 edition of the Handbook for Library Trustees of New York State is now available online on the New York State Library’s website at http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/trustees/handbook/index.html.
The handbook is co-authored by Jerry Nichols, Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University and Rebekkah Smith Aldrich from the Mid-Hudson Library System. Rebekkah was the keynote presenter at the CLRC annual membership meeting this past October.
Bernie Margolis, State Librarian and Assistant Commissioner for Libraries, said this about the book…“Forward-looking, informed trustees are needed to guide their libraries, and this handbook provides trustees with the necessary tools to steer their libraries and communities in a positive direction.”
Rebekkah Smith Aldrich noted that the 2015 handbook has a new chapter on board development, updated chapters on technology and public relations, advocacy, more details about fiduciary responsibilities, expanded information about civil service, updated lists of essential policies and more.
