Congratulations to the Onondaga Free Library and Onondaga Hill Middle School Library on winning the Best Buy Geek Squad Academy grant. They were recognized for their innovative after-school Maker Club partnership.

School librarian Penny Feeney and Onondaga Free Library Assistant Director Alyssa Newton have created exciting new opportunities for students in their community. Through their partnership, they have transformed their libraries into safe and welcoming environments in which students are in charge of their learning. The students have come to understand that a library is more than just a place to get a book. It is also a great place to learn and explore their interests.

The Best Buy Geek Squad Academy award provides for a two-day technology camp, hosted at the Onondaga Hill Middle School. It will take place on August 10th and 11th.

Want to be part of the fun? Sign up to volunteer. The library is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy working with teens and can attend both full days of the camp (9:00 am-4:00 pm). Volunteers do not need to be technology experts. Contact Alyssa Newton or Penny Feeney to learn more.
