Seymour Library: Pushing Green to Patrons

Here’s a simple way to raise awareness of energy conservation, reusable resources and sustainability to your community. Follow the lead of the Seymour Library’s Go Green page and compile library resources on your website for quick access.

In 2014 the Library received a $2,000 grant from the Cayuga Community Fund to purchase books and tools and create programs that promote environmental awareness and sustainable living in Cayuga County in the Finger Lakes region. The Library responded by purchasing materials including electricity usage monitors and books covering topics as diverse as solar and geothermal building, permaculture gardening, co-housing options, activism, and making ecologically sound choices for home, health and beauty. But purchasing these items wasn’t enough, so they created an online guide to capture the collection and highlight the grant. A win/win for all!
