Anne Nassar Discusses New Initiatives Grant Project, “Paint Your Masterpiece”

We hosted a Paint Party via Zoom on December the 2nd, from 6-7 PM. The teacher was Jill Rae Vennera, of Easels on the Gogh. We gave away 20 8 x 10 canvases, each with two brushes and five containers of paint. Attendance was actually 26, because some people had their own supplies. We received lots of positive feedback from the attendees and requests for another program.

Cara Howe, CLRC Professional Development Award Recipient, Talks About the Introduction to Web Archiving Course from the iSchool at UW-Madison

So much of the archival record is digital and this expands beyond electronic documents to include coded web pages and embedded content. Preserving these interfaces is a distinct skill set, which archivists are cultivating. With support from a CLRC Development Award, I was able to complete a two-month course offered by the iSchool at UW-Madison. Introduction to Web Archiving was taught by Samantha Abrams, the Web Resources Collection Librarian for Ivy Plus Librarians and encompassed all the essential components of basic web archiving.

Pauline Shostack Discusses New Initiatives Grant Project, “Scalable Makerspace Fan Creation Station”

Project Activities: MET270 (Solid Modeling) students helped create the fan design as part of a class project. See attached photos. From these design ideas, Professor Grieb created a final prototype design that we used to create twenty fan project kits. A Fan Creation LibGuide, instructional videos, and a survey were created for this level 1. The Level 2 content is in development, but the draft videos have recently been completed.
