After a long summer hiatus, CLRC once again offered a First Monday visit, this time hosted by the Upstate Cancer Center.
Thank you to Clare Rauch, Clinical Reference and Cancer Center Librarian, for the amazing tour of the facility and the Family Resource Center.
The FRC offers computers, information brochures, recipe cards and a quiet place to have questions answered. Clare was recently awarded a grant to purchase books for patients. She plans to focus the collection on nutrition and cookbooks, humor, firsthand stories and poetry. Adult coloring books are also a fun treat. The Family Resource Center has recommended books for a cancer survivor reading room at an area YMCA.
The Cancer Center is an outpatient facility with open spaces full of natural light, coming in from the walls of windows and skylights. There is a four-season healing garden that can be seen from the children’s and adult treatment rooms. There is also a cozy fireplace in one of the treatment waiting rooms, a quiet meditation room with floor pillows and a boutique.

Contact Clare Rauch if you have any questions about the services or resources available at the Cancer Center.
