Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

CLRC facilitates limited assistance with delivery and electronic interlibrary loan (ILL) services via OCLC WorldShare, Docline, and other platforms as needed. CLRC provides these ILL services at no charge to our member libraries. Please email Sophie Friedman to place a borrowing request.

Coordinated Collection Development Aid (CCDA)

The Coordinated Collection Development Aid (CCDA) program promotes a diverse regional collection that can be shared through ILL. CCDA aims to advance regional coordination of collection development in academic libraries by providing formula funding based on enrollment to public and not-for-profit colleges, universities, and community colleges that meet certain conditions. These conditions include constitutional eligibility to receive New York State aid, membership in a reference and research library resources system, and full participation in interlibrary loan and other resource sharing programs. The nine reference and research library resources councils, working with the academic libraries in their regions, have formulated collection development plans for their regions.

The following subject areas were collected by CLRC members in 2023-2024:

Through its Coordinated Collection Development Aid (CCDA) program, New York state financially recognizes the contributions academic libraries make to state and regional resource sharing. By helping academic libraries to build their collections in specific subject areas through annual grants, New York state ensures the people of the state have access to more and richer resources.

Sixteen CLRC academic institutions currently receive funding annually from the CCDA program, which is administered on behalf of the New York State Library by the ESLN Councils. Participating libraries collect materials in multiple formats.

Medical Information Services Program (MISP)

The New York State Library provides funding through the Medical Information Services Program (MISP) for the provision of medical and consumer health information services for all types of libraries and library systems. CLRC administers this funding directly.
CLRC uses a portion of MISP funding to purchase shared medical databases, including Doody’s Review Service, AccessMedicine, and a shared R2 Library for medical librarians.

CLRC libraries and library systems may use MISP funds for:

  • Payment to the libraries of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM), including the National Library of Medicine, for medical and health interlibrary loan services
  • Deposits in the NN/LM electronic payment systems
  • Payment to commercial document delivery suppliers as the last resort for the needed medical information
  • Mediated medical database searches performed by a library or library system on behalf of another library for their patron’s information needs
  • The licensing of and access to medical resources in electronic format
  • Referrals for medical information on behalf of regional libraries
  • Locator tools for medical information or for the creation and maintenance of medical information locator tools in a region
  • Reference referral services (virtual or other) for medical and health information needs
  • Communication, promotion and training related to this program

CLRC members can also request MISP reimbursement for interlibrary loan (ILL) costs for materials that provide medical information. Reimbursements are collected and reviewed on a quarterly basis. The reimbursement periods are as follows: June-September, October-December, January-March, and April-May.

To request reimbursement, please make a copy of this template. Completed reimbursement sheets should be sent to Sophie Friedman.
