One of our readers, Sari, met Chace and Penn while they were filming scenes for Gossip Girl at Brooklyn College thanks to one of out tips! She sent us a full report and pictures, she even has a few great tips for those of you heading out this week to check out Gossip Girl filming around NYC!
Here is what Sari had to say about her experience last week and her excellent tips to help you meet the cast:
“I got there at like 3ish and they weren’t filming… we were like a few yards away from the set of the scene like behind a gate and Chace was standing next to a water cooler talking to someone, I think she was interviewing him. Then he went to rehearse his scene for like 10 minutes and then he came back to eat lunch. While he was eating I called his name and he looked up and waved! Then they filmed his scene for like a half hour and then he walked over to where us fans were behind the gate and came to talk to us and take pics etc…he was SO nice! He gave me his autograph, told me I have a beautiful name, and had this whole cute conversation with me about a movie he was in, The Covenant.
Then later on Penn came and was like not even acknowledging the fans. Somehow a few girls got in to the gated off area from a different side and got to take a pic with him so then one of the crew members, John told us not to go crazy and stop trying to get in because he’ll go ask Penn to come to us. And he did! So then Penn came and was like “ok let’s do this quick, get in groups with your friends and only one camera, and email it to each other”. When my friends and I got our picture he was like talking to someone about what he wants to eat.
I saw them filming 2 scenes. In one Nate (Chace Crawford- who is GORGEOUS by the way, and totally sweet) was talking to this girl with short brown hair and I think he was saying something about Dan Humphrey. The other scene had him and Dan (Penn Badgley) talking about something but I couldn’t hear what it was exactly.
The whole thing was over at like 6/7ish and we were walking with Chace a little bit as he was leaving and he was SO friendly and sweet!
So I’ve been to a few filmings of GG and this is what I’ve learned:
1. The crew people don’t like to be annoyed and they can kick you out so if you’re nice to them and keep a low profile, they’re more likely to give you useful information and possibly get the stars to come to you.
2. Also, you have a better chance of meeting the cast when they are filming outdoors than indoors because they are already there and they see you waiting. MOST of them are really nice and happy to meet their fans.
3. There is no way to know when exactly they will film and when they’ll stop to chat. It depends a lot on the lighting and weather too. Like if there’s a cloud making it dark they might take a break till it’s sunny again…
4. They usually film a few scenes at different spots around the same area so if you leave and come back they might’ve moved.”
Thanks again Sari, the tips are great (and let’s hope Penn was just having a bad day)! And now here are her pics:
cool pics but these girls who go on to these sets need to be more mature and not bug the crew…i was shooting that day as well with the cast and boy did i see girls try to get onto set but of course, denied lol
Jen were u the one walking around with Mr. Crawford? lol …and yes i do know that of course it prolly is very annoying 4 u but Chace is sort of the brad pitt of the younger generation, and e/o wants a picture with him, it’s a good sign- u work with talented men : ) …anyhows what do u do with the show?
Unfortunately, I wasn’t the 1 walking around with him but I know the actress he was shooting with and I know what the episode is about (and yes, when nate mentioned dan, it was that he was pretending to be him but that’s all i can say). He is a really nice and handsome young man. I can’t say what I do on the show but I can say that I’ve seen alot that’s happened on set lol. All I will say is that everyone I’ve worked with on this show is absolutely amazing and there is no tension whatsoever between anyone.
