For some, the first Monday in May means the Met Ball, but for the rest of us it means The Walking Dead begins filming again!
Thanks to one of our readers, Mike, we’ve confirmed The Walking Dead begins filming their seventh season on Monday, May 2. Filming will start around Old Griffin Rd and Brown Dr – Bridges Dr near Hampton, GA. According to Spoiling Dead Fans, the base camp for the location will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Monday and Tuesday.
Of course, as filming resumes, the big news from the set will be who isn’t there. (Potential Spoilers Ahead) Some recent casting news has many assuming it is Glenn who is dead. Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn, has just signed on to the movie Okja, along with Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano. Principal photography on Okja began April 22nd, with filming taking place in South Korea, Canada and the U.S. This has led many fans to believe it would be nearly impossible for for Yeun to film Okja and new season of TWD at the same time. But, it is worth noting, Gyllenhaal is also filming the movie Stronger in Boston right now, and is managing to balance both projects, so it is possible.
In other Walking Dead news, TVLine has confirmed a casting call was posted for the recurring role of Augustus, “a character who bears a striking resemblance to Ezekiel, who, in Robert Kirkman’s series of graphic novels, is the self-proclaimed king of The Kingdom.” Assuming the show follows the comics, “The Kingdom will be revealed to be part of a trading network with The Hilltop. When Jesus introduces his buddy, Ezekiel, to Rick, a plan is hatched to take down the Saviors and get [revenge for Glenn’s death].” This might be a bad sign for Richonne fans too as Ezekiel has an affair with Michonne in the comics.
