More On 50 Cent and Val Kilmer filming “Gun” in Grand Rapids, MI

2009 American Music Awards - Arrivals

Shooting has officially started in Grand Rapids, however, unlike the kind of shooting we are used to from 50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, this one doesn’t include weapons but cameras. Actor/Writer/Rapper 50 Cent is in Grand Rapids shooting scenes for his new movie “Gun” which, according to IMDb, is currently filming stunt scenes on Alpine Road in Comstock Park. “Gun”  also stars Val Kilmer and AnnaLynne McCord.

Curtis Jackson, wrote the script for the movie which has a budget of $3 million, furthermore he will help produce the movie along with his partner, Randall Emmett. This wont be the first time Grand Rapids will see Curtis Jackson and Emmett, because they have plans of shooting “a minimum” of three films in the state in 2010.

While the film is based in Detroit, it will be filmed in Grand Rapids because as Curtis puts it “I liked that it was quiet. Last time I was out here, for ‘Crossfire,’ it was really quiet. I was comfortable and able to focus on the actual project because of that. New York city is rough because so many people are conscious of everything that I do,” he also adds that he likes the fact he can film a scene without feeling crowed by fans.

According to 50, the film’s plot, has morphed over time, “Initially when I started the plot, it was a socially conscious story about how guns go from the manufacturing point to retail and purchased by law-abiding citizens and how they fall into the wrong hands.” The cast, originally focused on Kilmer and Jackson, and their characters, however over the time, it has evolved to feature several other characters.

The movie is expected to use 11 different locations throughout the city. However Randall Emmett said stock footage of the Detroit skyline might be used for some cutaway shots. The film is expected to hit theaters in the fall of 2010.

Update: Here’s more on that warehouse where they have been filming.
