Yesterday, 20th Century Fox issued a statement that explained production on 24 had been temporarily suspended while the show’s star, Kiefer Sutherland, “undergoes a medical procedure.”
Kiefer is scheduled to have a minor surgery after rupturing a cyst near his kidney. According to USA Today, “the cyst ruptured while the actor, 43, was working earlier last week, but 24 production continued without its main star until Friday.”
Kiefer’s publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, said in a statement that “While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work next week.”
update from director @joncassar:
“Kiefer is resting, after a successful operation today.”
