A Fan Report From The Premiere of ‘Remember Me’

One of our readers, Jackie, checked out the Today Show yesterday and the premiere of Remember Me at the Paris Theatre. Here’s her full report:

On Monday my friend Ashley and I went to NY to try to see Robert Pattinson. We went to The Today Show at 12 a.m. when we got in line there were maybe 7 people in front of us. Everybody was really nice and we all got along great and had a good night bonding over Rob.

A lot of us recognized each other from OLV and had a great time talking about that! As the night went on more and more people came but it wasn’t until about 4 or 5 that a lot of people really started to come. There was a big turnout for Rob but I was surprised it wasn’t worse. At 6:30 a.m. we got let in to where they film outside. Rob came out twice and seemed to be really nice. He signed a lot of things and took a lot of pictures with people. My friend and I ended up talking to Stephanie who works with Rob and she was really nice. She was trying to get him to come our way but at that point all the fans near him were going crazy and it was kind of hard for her to get his attention.

After The Today Show we headed to the Paris Theatre. We figured it would be total chaos during the premiere so we made sure to get there early. We ended up stopping for some coffee on the way and met some other fans who told us to go to the Theatre because they were handing out wristbands. We ran over and got the bands. I was really impressed by the way the Paris handled everything. They knew it was going to be a huge crowed and they made sure it was fair. With the wristbands they gave everyone paper work that explained how it was going to work. They did it by numbers. The first people to get their wristbands (numbers 141000-141125) were the 2 o’clock group as the numbers got higher you were 2:30 3:00 and 3:30. They placed you in barricades based on our time slot. Everyone with a number higher than 141501 was accommodated as space allowed. Once the Red Carpet began everything was still going smoothly. The security was really nice. They kept telling who was in the cars and giving us a heads up on who was coming next. The fans were great too. Everyone listened to the rules and and all got along great.

We all knew Kristen [Stewart] was in NY with Rob but I wasn’t sure if she would walk the carpet and was so happy that she did. After she came off the carpet everyone was screaming her name. She looked over at my section and waved hello. We asked if we could get a picture and the security guard with her said no. But she told him that it was OK and she walked right over to me and my friend! We all said hello and she was really sweet to us. We were having some camera issues but she waited patiently and then took pictures with me Ashley and a few other people near us.

The security kept reminding us that when Rob came out there was to be no pushing or shoving or touching Rob. When he did walk out there of course the usual cheers for him but the fans all behaved really nicely (I was especially proud of my 2:30 group). Security told us they would bring him around to each area so we would all get a chance to see him. Unfortunately even though the Paris and the security were really good and the fans behaved appropriately the paparazzi really didn’t. They were all in his face and in front of the fans. A lot of girls said they got hit and and yelled at. I was elbowed in the face by one paparazzi. Security was tight and obviously safety for both Rob and the fans was most important so after bringing him around to what I believe was only two sections they took him inside.

After all the celebs were inside they made an announcement that all the fans with wristbands would get to see a screening of the movie too down the block. I thought this was really awesome of them! Not only were they treating the fans nicely and being respectful of us but also it was a great way to clear everyone out!

The show the fans were seeing started 30 minutes after the one the celebs were in, this gave Rob and everyone plenty of time to get across the street for the After Party. My friend and I decided to skip the movie to see if we could try [to see] Rob one more time. We figured out which door he would use to get into the Plaza, unfortunately security wasn’t having it and told us to go wait by everyone else. Of course the second we got back by everyone else rob showed up where we had been.

All in all it was a really good day. I saw Rob a few times, the security and staff at the Today Show and the Paris were wonderful and Rob really does have the best fans ever! Of course I wish I would have gotten a picture with him but I’m really really happy I got one with Kristen and all this means is that I just have to work a little harder when he come to NY to promote Eclipse in June!
