The highly anticipated 3-D Green Lantern, which stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and Mark Strong as Sinestro, has been in pre-production for a few weeks now in New Orleans. DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns made a visit to the set a couple weeks ago and raved about both actors tweeting, “Back from an amazing trip to Green Lantern town a.k.a. New Orleans!! Ryan IS Hal. And Mark Strong is going to be a brilliant Sinestro.”

Tomorrow is the movie’s first official day on location in NOLA and thanks to one of our tipsters, Jason, we know where they will be. Green Lantern will be shooting a bar scene at the Old Point Bar, 545 Patterson Drive, New Orleans during the day. (Thanks Jason!)

We’ll keep you posted as we learn of more Green Lantern locations throughout the shoot. If you have information about the movie or its filming locations, let us know at olv@onlocations.com!

Update: They are filming at this location through the 17th. (Thanks Taylor!)

Update: Our friends over at Comicbookmovie.com received the following report from one of their readers about the signage outside of Old Point Bar: “…they changed all the windows to read “Broome’s Bar” in the middle of the window and “Food & spirits” at the bottom.” You can see a picture of the sign here. If you stop by the location this week, let us know about it olv@onlocationvacations.com!

  1. The HBO series Treme is filming in NOLA today too, looks like the French Quarter but couldn’t pinpoint the location, any ideas?

Has anyone been by the Green Lantern set yet? Can you see anything?

  2. I believe they are filming in the 600 block of tchoupitoulas as I type this. Huge pully system and tons of light cranes. Big production. Filming tomorrow and possibly Friday as per crew member.

  3. I work on Julia Street in the ware house district. I just went outside and my car is gone! Is there anyway to find out if it was towed b/c of filming? How do I know where it was towed to?

  4. Just back from New Orleans. Stayed on Tchoupitoulas and watched several scenes from Green Lantern being filmed on Tuesday evening. Ryan Reynolds came out, signed autographs, and took a couple pics. Filming was ongoing in the evenings during our entire stay. Also saw Treme being filmed yesterday (Friday, the 19th) in the Quarter on Royal. Star Wagons, film trailers, sets, etc were seen in several locations around the city. New Orleans seems to be quite the location!
