Filming News Wrap Up: first Kevorkian trailer, another hero coming to New Orleans, Donnie Wahlberg in Toronto & more

Here’s a look at Al Pacino as Dr. Jack Kevorkian in You Don’t Know Jack, which debuts on HBO on April 24th. The movie was filmed in NYC & Michigan last year.

Green Lantern won’t be the only Hero in New Orleans for long. Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia has signed on for the lead role in an upcoming drama Criminal Empire for Dummys. Gary Oldman, Malin Akerman, Michael Clarke Duncan and Harvey Keita also star. Filming begins later this month in New Orleans.

Not all New Orleans residents are thrilled about all the filming around town though, especially for the post-Katrina HBO drama Treme.

Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck are currently shooting a pilot for CBS in Toronto. In the series, which was once known as Reagan’s Law, Tom Selleck portrays the NYPD chief of police and Wahlberg plays his detective son.

Sissy Spacek, Rachelle Lefevre, Janeane Garofalo, Skeet Ulrich, Amy Smart, Michael Beach and Jay Hernandez are filming another CBS pilot in Wilmington, NC. Spacek will play the cancer-stricken leader of a mobile medical team that travels around the country helping in times of emergency.

Kevin Smith’s first stab at the horror genre, Red State, begins filming in July. We first heard about this movie back in 2007, around the same time Smith started working on Zack and Miri. At that time, Smith planned on filming the movie in New Jersey, we’ll have to wait and see if that’s still the plan.

The Convincer continues filming in Hopkins, MN this week. This article also says that one of my favorite movies, Beautiful Girls was also shot in Hopkins!

If have any info on any of these stories or where they are filming, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

  1. Hi. Does anyone have any information on Reagan’s Law and if it will be coming to NYC anytime soon? I know they are NYC cops and it is currently being filmed in Toronto but if anyone has any kind of updated information that would be great.
