According to NOLA.com, “film production activity will close the the Lakefront Airport Overpass between Hayne Boulevard and the Sen. Ted Hickey Bridge, more commonly known as the ‘Seabrook Bridge’. The overpass will be closed to traffic through July 2, according to an advisory issued by the New Orleans Office of Film and Video. Through-traffic will be diverted to Hayne Boulevard and Downman Road.”
Officials wouldn’t comment on the name of the movie causing the closure but NOLA.com speculates it is Green Lantern which seems to be in line with a tip we received over the weekend stating that Green Lantern would be filming at Lakeshore Dr around Sikorsky Dr, not far from the overpass.
Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds, has been filming in New Orleans for several weeks and is scheduled to continue shooting in the area through August 6.
If, by chance, the shoot turns out not to be Green Lantern, here’s the official list of what else is currently filming in NOLA according to the city’s film office (our money’s on The Fields for second choice):
Brawler
Memphis Beat (TNT Series)
The Fields (aka The Texas Killing Fields) – stars Sam Worthington & Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Jeff Who Lives at Home -stars Jason Segel & Ed Helms
Revenge of the Bridesmaids
The Colony 2 (Discovery Channel)
Killing Karma (WWE)
Love Wedding Marriage – stars Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore and is set to wrap shortly if it hasn’t already
If you catch any of these productions filming in NO, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
[Thanks to Dean for the tip and link]
Update: Green Lantern set designers have already transformed the Lakefront Airport Terminal facade into a facsimile of the fictional Ferris Air complex from the comic, and have reportedly rented out a couple of hangars at the airport.
