‘The Vampire Diaries’ filming in Covington, GA today

The cast of The Vampire Diaries is busy shooting season 2 in Covington, GA, which fills in as Mystic Falls on the show.

We received a tip that they were filming at a Lockwood Manor today, but can’t seem to locate the manor on a map, though we were able to find Oakwood Manor here. Our source added the cast is often “all around town”.

Not only do fans of the TV show have season 2 to look forward too, but fans of the books can now look forward to a new trilogy too!

Update: Just got a tip that today’s location is a hospital, same tomorrow too.

Newton Medical Center (5126 Hospital Drive Ne) seems to be the largest hospital in Covington but there is also a Covington Manor, which appears to be a Nursing Home, any ideas which it could be?

  9. Ambykind- hi! Is there any chance that she’d know the hospital name by next week? I’m sure they’d tell her the information beforehand. I’m guessing if extras are needed, then it must be a bigger scene where it’d be easier to watch them film =)

    oh and Jess (from Vampire Stalkers)- I love your website! it looks amazing! would you happen to know which hospital there filming at for tomorrow and next week?

  15. I’m also going to be in town next week! hopefully we can find out filming locations after they come back from Comic Con! I’m hoping next week has many open sets!

  20. Can you tell me if filming for VD will be done through August…and weekends in August. My girls would love to see the set and the cast. I dont live too far from Covington, but do not want to show up and not see anything..

  21. I would guess that they do not film on the weekends. I used to work with “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman” a few years ago in California and everyone got weekends off. Another tidbit I got from that show is that a 1 hour long show will take 7 days to film, so if they have weekends off, than they will probably be filming the 2nd episode next week. I hope you and your girls will get to see them filming. It isn’t as glamorous as you think and you will have a lot of standing around and waiting, so if you have fold up chair and they let you bring them in I would.

  25. We saw them filming tonight off Monticello St. Dressed for a flashback scene… Lots of extras were spotted but not main characters….maybe we will see them again…. Not sure of filming schedule into next week though. Good luck!! My girls had fun anyway!!!

  26. Yall should have been out Thursday night, it was the best! Ian, Paul, Nina, Matt, Candice and new cast member Taylor who is rapidly becoming my favorite!!!

  30. my sister’s bedroom window faces the backyard of the big house off the square where they film…gardeners where there this morning fixing it up so i assume they will be filming sometime this week. My sister says she usually knows when they’re filming because they use big flood lights at night that light up her back yard as well.

    Sorry your sister has to deal with those flood lights. It might be tomorrow or Wednesday before they film if they’re getting ready. It’s a quick turnaround. Say could your sister find out by asking the location people? Location contract monitors or security should know the shooting schedule if they are allowed to tell us? It is private property.

  34. I AM PLANNING A TRIP TO COVINGTON GA IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL FILMING VAMPIRE DIARIES IN GA? I AM DYING TO MEET OR SEE THE CAST. I MET SOME OF THE TWILIGHT GUYS IN NASHVILLE BACK IN JANUARY AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE THESE GUYS AS WELL. IF U KNOW THEIR FILMING SCHEDULE ., PLZ LET ME KNOW. THANKS SO MUCH 🙂

  38. I am not a fan or anything, havent watched the show but I saw filming tonight at about 6:45 on Floyd Street. I came home and looked up what it would be and found this site so I just thought fans would like to know.

  39. I’m really interested in finding the actual location of the falls. I know they’re mostly computer generated, but I saw a picture of some waterfall in or around Helen, GA, that look similar to the smaller part of the water fall from TVD. (The TVD waterfall has a larger waterfall, then the water flows down and over a smaller waterfall that we see more of) and would like to know if anyone knows if that is it, or how to get there. Planning a spring break road trip for my daughter, and she really wants to go check out some locations and get some pics, and I think pics of the falls would be perfect!

    • There are some waterfalls near Helen in the Unicoi State Park, and the resemblance is remarkable. The smaller of the falls that are mainly shown in TVD, especially in the episode where Catherine finds Vicki’s body where you can see the falls pretty good, look like they were based from the falls in the state park. I’m taking the trip the first week in April. I plan to spend a couple days in Helen and a day trip to Covington (I live in the Atlanta suburbs), so I’m hoping to see some great sites and get some good pictures.
