According to Deadline.com, Robert Pattinson has booked his first post-Twilight Saga lead in Cosmopolis, the Don DeLillo novel adaptation which David Cronenberg wrote and will direct.
Pattinson will play Eric Packer, a 28-year-old financial wizard and billionaire who risks his entire fortune against the yen on a tumultuous day, and lands in the “crosshairs for assassination in a drama that is a study of capitalism in a slightly futuristic metropolis.”
Colin Farrell was originally attached to the role.
Meanwhile, Rueters is reporting that Paul Giamatti and Marion Cotillard have already signed on for the film, which is eyeing a mid-May start in Toronto.
Stay tuned because it looks like summer 2011 just got a bit more interesting!
