Where to find ‘Burn Notice’ filming locations in Miami

Burn Notice is one of the shows that we’re asked about a lot but rarely have filming location information for, either because we haven’t received any recent tips or the show is on a hiatus (as it is now).

But, thanks to one of our Twitter followers, @Karendipitee, we have discovered several great resources for finding current and past Burn Notice filming locations in Miami.

First, Karen let us in on what might be one of the best kept secrets for finding locations in Southern Florida, a website called South Florida Filming Locations which tracks locations in each episode of Burn Notice (not unlike Seeing-Stars’ Dexter page). The great thing about the SFFL site is that even though it only gives filming location information for past episodes, often those locations are used over and over again.

According to @Karendipitee, the studio is at the Coconut Grove Expo Center (2700 South Bayshore Drive in Miami) and many exterior shots are have been filmed around there, including the docks, the parking lot, Miami City Hall, and the abandoned Grand Bay Hotel across the street which was just used for the season 4 finale. The show also shoots all over Coconut Grove, often in the Cocowalk and Mayfair shopping areas. A local blog, Coconut Grove Grapevine, will also often document Burn Notice locations in this area.

Karen also told us that one of the most popular sites fans like to see is the wall seen in the pilot and the opening monologue. It is in Bayfront Park in downtown Miami at Biscayne Blvd and SE 2nd Street. Nearby Ocean Dr in Miami Beach is another area where they are often filming.

Finally, Karen suggested checking out the Miami Thread on the USA Burn Notice forums for more information from fans interested in the show’s locations, we know we’ll be keeping an eye on it!

As for right now, a Burn Notice movie prequel starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Jeffrey Donovan is being shot in Columbia, but the series is expected to back on location in Miami this spring.

Thanks again to Karen for all the great info and remember, if you’re an expert on a particular movie or TV show and its filming locations, we’d love to know about it!  Send us an email with your story to olv@onlocationvacations.com!
