As we reported a while back, Ryan Reynolds and Zach Galifianakis will team up for R.I.P.D. and now WickedLeaked.com is reporting the movie will be shot in Boston this summer.
The project is based on the Dark Horse comic about a murdered cop (Reynolds) “who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world.” Zack will play Reynolds’ partner, a wise-cracking officer who’s been hunting spirits since the 1800s.
I’m proceeding with caution on this one since, at this point, I can’t seem to find any other reference to the movie being filmed in Boston. I did contact the Massachusetts Film Office to verify, but my request was not answered.
Though, with other states, like Michigan and New Mexico, offering fewer tax incentives to production companies it would not be surprising to see many more films shot in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or New York this summer. Stay tuned!
