First Pittsburgh filming location for ‘Perks of Being A Wallflower’ revealed!

It looks like we finally have our first definite filming location for the highly anticipated Perks of Being A Wallflower, based on the novel by Stephen Chbosky, who also happens to be a native of Pittsburgh where the movie will begin filming in mid-May.

Chobosky, who is directing the movie, made a personal request to rent the Hollywood Theater in Dormont, PA where he will shoot scenes for the movie next month.

Apparently, Chbosky saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the theater when he was young, making it the perfect location for a similar scene in the movie. The Hollywood Theater will be closed from May 23-June 8 for the filming.

Perks, which stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman and Nina Dobrev, is about an introvert high school freshman in Pittsburgh in the early 1990s.
