This is major news for us and all of our fellow Upstate New Yorkers!

It’s official, The Place Beyond The Pines is going to begin shooting in Schenectady, NY this summer!

The movie, which will star Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, is about a motorcycle racer who moonlights as a bank robber to support his newborn son. Derek Cianfrance will direct.

The casting company is currently looking for people to play high school kids, cops, police chiefs, lawyers, politicians, reporters and more. There will be an open casting call at 1473 Erie Boulevard in Schenectady which will last all day for people 21 and up on Saturday, June 4. For boys and girls 13-20 the casting call will be on Sunday, June 5.

Filming is expected to begin in July and will continue for eight weeks in and around Schenectady. Looks like our summer plans just got a bit more exciting!
