Updated: ‘Hunger Games’ update: Shelby, NC is District 12

As we’ve reported, The Hunger Games is currently filming on Henry River Road in Hildebran, NC, but it looks like they’ll be making a move to Shelby, NC before the end of the week.

An old P&M Warehouse in Shelby has been blocked off by road closure signs and has been under security guard watch 24/7 for the past two days.

If you need more evidence that the location is being prepped for shooting, a sign has also been posted on the building that reads “District 12”, which is  where the book that the movie is being based on begins. District 12 is also the home of Katniss Everdeen, the main character of the movie who is being played Jennifer Lawrence.

Hunger Games is expected to continue shooting in Hildebran through Wednesday or Thursday, then its on to District 12!

If you spot Hunger Games filming in North Carolina, let us know about it in our Open Thread or at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

Update: It was also just announced that The Hunger Games will be shooting in Asheville, NC on June 20-30 too!

Update: It looks like the scenes in Shelby will take place on 5.26, 27, & 31. Here’s a recent post from the movie’s Facebook page for extras booked to work in the scene. “You can’t count on some VERY early am call times on Thursday 26th,Friday 27th, Tuesday 31st and Wednesday 1st. We may have some as early as 4:30 am. I would count on most of them being between 5 -6 am. Everyone has to go thru wardrobe, hair and make up. These are some of our most important and biggest scenes in the film.”
