First look at Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter filming ‘Dexter’ Season 6 in Long Beach, CA

One of our readers, Kohl, was on the set of Dexter in Long Beach, CA yesterday where she spotted Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter shooting a scene outside a local preschool.

She told us that she was there to try to get a few pictures of Desmond Harrington but after crossing the street to get closer to the set she was asked to leave. It looks like they might be trying to keep this season’s plot tightly under wraps!

She also mentioned that the signs around set read “Smuggler”, instead of “Dexter”, which is unusual because Smuggler is a production company usually associated with commercial shoots, something to keep in mind for anyone set stalking this summer.

Though the scream at the end of the season’s first teaser trailer (and internet buzz) lead us to believe that Dex and Deb may have some struggles in their relationship this season, based on Kohl’s photos below it seems like things are good (so far) between the on-screen brother and sister. But anything can still happen, after all it is only episode 1!

Thanks to Kohl Tabori for sharing these photos, if you have any set photos you’d like to share, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

  1. FYI, i was also on set yesterday and was never asked to leave and was in fact stuck up nice conversation with crew and security. I watched as people watching the filming were asked to leave only when they walked stupidly close to filming or would not move when they were standing in the camera angle. Its not a matter of them being mean and kicking people out as it is that fans who want to watch them film need to respect their liberal rules and not video tape filming or wander into the middle of their set in the middle of filming.

  2. In response to dexterfan, I did not get stupidly close to the set. In fact, I had my zoom lens and only crossed the street when a member of the crew told me and another woman that it was okay. I only took shots of the principals when they were done shooting, as you can see from the first picture…Michael and Jennifer were just talking NOT filming. The second shot was taken from INSIDE my car, as I drove off, because I was pissed that I didn’t get a better shot of them together. I know others were taking pictures but I think because I have an expensive DSLR and it looks professional and I was dressed nicely (and that was because I wanted to look good for a picture with Desmond) is why I was told to not take pictures. I didn’t look like a fan. I have my B.A in Film and have been on several film shoots so I know what I can and cannot do…I was never in the camera’s line so I had no clue as why they singled me out. This older gentleman came towards me and started to yell at the P.A. next to me saying that he was suppose to watch for people taking pictures and to call security. I was never asked to leave formally…I got the hint. He directed that comment at the P.A. but it was all about me.

  3. Thanks John! I do have a “mission” to finally get a picture with Desmond Harrington this Summer so be prepared to see more pictures from me.

  4. Nice pictures. It sucks you were kicked off the set, Kohl. Better luck next time 🙂

By the way, the main article mentions the screams in the trailer. Everything in the trailer is from previous seasons. The two least obvious are the scream and the ending glare that Dex gives. The scream “oh my god” over and over was Deb on the boat with Rudy when he dumped out his tools. They just added echo to the tools noise. The glare is from season 3 when Dex is in his lab and figures out Miguel has been lying to him from day 1.

So, I think it’s the words, the slogan, “All hell breaks loose” that is indicative of the upcoming season. We know a James Olmos is playing some kind of religious figure and Colin Hanks is an archaeologist who is connected to Olmos. So, it seems that “hell” may play some part in the series. We have yet to see Dexter explore any religious or spiritual routes yet. It’d be interesting.
