‘The Walking Dead’ updates: Zombie School this weekend, Cobb County filming, & a new toy line

The Walking Dead wraps up filming on Hwy 20, outside of Atlanta, today where they are have been filming another one of the show’s infamous ‘deserted highway after the zombie apocalypse’ scenes.

CBSAtlanta posted a few aerial shots of Hwy 20 which show dozens of abandoned cars on the road.

Next up, the show moves to Cobb County on Monday where they’ll be shooting a scene involving “simulated gunfire as actors are confronted by a horde of zombies” at Cobb Parkway and Riverwood Parkway.

But first, the actors portraying those zombies will need to learn the ropes at ZOMBIE SCHOOL! One of readers, who wished to stay anonymous, was hired to play a zombie in Monday’s scene but will need to attend zombie school on Saturday first! Our tipster was reluctant to give us any details (we know they are very strict about any potential plot “leaks”), and wouldn’t tell us where the school was taking place, but did confirm all of the “zombies” would be learning how to walk and perform like a “real” zombie.

As we’ve mentioned, Extras Casting Atlanta handles extras casting for the show, including zombies.

In other Walking Dead news, AMC has released the first official photos from season 2, the new zombie toy line hits shelves this fall, and there are rumors AMC has something special planned for us and our fellow San Diego Comic-Con attendees next month, can’t wait to see it! Here’s what they did last year.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Halloween.

Musician Jesse Dayton may be best known to genre fans as “Captain Clegg,” the front man to the psychobilly band seen in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, as he not only performed under the moniker in the film but also was the opening act on Zombie’s music tour that kicked off later that year as well.

Now Dayton is gearing up to show his fans out there another side of himself as the writer/director just wrapped production on his first feature film entitled Zombex, a zombie flick that explores the concept that maybe pharmaceutical companies could actually be dastardly enough to be responsible for creating a zombie apocalypse through the distribution of their medicinal products.

  2. I’m going to say that I didn’t find a random gravel road that lead to the tree line on ga 20 where they have been filming this past week. I’m going to say I Didn’t have camo on, and I didn’t climb up to 20 from the woods to see a couple of flipped pt crusiers, and a tractor trailer flipped almost into the woods. I didn’t see, or do any of that. 😀

  3. thanks zack for sharing all the things you didn’t see, if you did see those things it sounds like it would have been very cool! 🙂
