The Tony Awards move to Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side

Tomorrow night Neil Patrick Harris will return as the host of The Tony Awards, which honor the best of Broadway.

This year’s nominees include Al Pacino (The Merchant of Venice), Frances McDormand (Good People), Vanessa Redgrave, (Driving Miss Daisy), Billy Crudup (Arcadia), Edie Falco (The House of Blue Leaves), John Larroquette (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) and many other amazing Broadway talents.

But, thanks to a new Cirque du Soleil production at Radio City Music Hall, producers  have had to move the ceremony form its usual location to the Beacon Theatre located at Broadway and 74th Street, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

For the last few days there has been lots of activity around the theater as rehearsals have been taking place for the big show.

One downside of the production’s move has been a reduction in the number of tickets available because the theater is much smaller than Radio City. Another downside is there is much less room around the theater for fans who want to watch the red carpet arrivals Sunday afternoon.

Right now, it looks like the red carpet will likely take place on Amsterdam, behind the theater. If you decide to scope it out, get there early since there probably won’t be much room for spectators, and be sure to let us know how it goes!
