Today dueling announcements were made by the Michigan Film Office and the Ohio Film Office, both stating that the highly anticipated film, I, Alex Cross, based on the James Patterson’s novel, had been approved for film incentives.
The Michigan Film Office announced that it had awarded the project $3,573,943 on $8,509,387 of projected expenditures. This is the twelfth project approved for the state’s tax incentives, leaving about $5.5 million left for remaining applicants. The movie will be shot in Detroit, where the story is also set.
Meanwhile, the Ohio Film Office also announced that the movie will be filming in Cleveland this summer and will receive $5 million in tax credits for the shoot.
I, Alex Cross will be directed by Rob Cohen and will star Tyler Perry (as Alex Cross), Matthew Fox and Ed Burns.
