Casting for “American Girl” underway in Winnipeg

The upcoming movie American Girl is set to begin filming in Winnipeg on July 11 and they are currently looking for extras.

The movie stars Nia Vardalos and newcomer Jade Pettyjohn as Velma, “a strong-willed young gymnast with Olympic aspirations, whose plans evaporate when she is sidelined by an injury”. Vardalos plays her mother.

They are looking for female gymnasts between the ages of nine and 12, male and female urban skateboarders between the ages of 11 and 13, as well as males and females from eight into their 60s.

Extras are needed to play students, gymnasts, gymnastics spectators, nature enthusiasts, hikers, horseback riders, and street pedestrians and will be paid $11 an hour, meal and snacks will be provided.
