The Untitled Phil Spector Project on hold, Bette Midler’s role beign recast

Tomorrow The Phil Spector Project was scheduled to begin filming at the Nassau Court House in Mineola, NY, but instead the shoot has been postponed while they look for a replacement for one of the film’s stars.

Bette Midler dropped out of HBO movie, about jailed music producer Phil Spector, last week after suffering a herniated disc six days into production.

Bette had already begun filming her role as Linda Kenney Baden, Spector’s defense lawyer in his first trial for the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson, which will now need to be recast.

“I am heartbroken to be forced to leave this terrific project,” Midler said in a statement. “Working with David Mamet and Al Pacino (who stars as Spector) was a dream of mine. But the pain I am in has made my participation impossible. My heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind understanding.”

For now, it is unknown when the movie will begin filming in NYC again, but when they do, we’ll be sure to let you know!
