CSI: NY shoots most of the show in L.A., but each season the series spends one or two weeks filming on location in New York City.
And this year, according to TV Line, they may actually kick off the season with a shoot in NYC:
The season premiere will mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, which means it’s going to be an emotional episode for Mac who, as you know, lost his wife in the attacks. It doesn’t help matters that the new forensics tech Hannah — who’s book-smart but socially inept — starts hounding him with questions about his missus’ passing. BTW, word on the street is several pivotal scenes will be shot on location in New York.
No word yet when the NYC shoot will take place (assuming it does) but it will likely be soon as most series are back in full swing for the new season. If you spot signs for CSI: NY on the streets of NYC in the coming weeks, let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

How do I become a crew member or an extra
Going to school to becoming part of the crew, sometimes can find internships or what not. Just depends. As for extras, sometimes they have a casting call, and there’s sometimes a site or agency you can go through. Never been either, but I’d love to become an extra, third assistant or productions assistant! Hope I helped! :]
