The ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ trailer debuts at Comic-Com 2011

This morning, the cast of Torchwood: Miracle Day, including John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Mekhi Phifer and Alexa Havins, along with writer Jane Espenson, appeared at the Starz Comic-Com 2011 panel and they brought along a first look at the new series!

As the panel opens, Barrowman told the audience that he spent three hours and about $2000 on the exhibition floor last night.

As far as Torchwood’s revival, he said he was grateful to Starz for stepping in. “Thank goodness for Starz, who stepped forward and collaborated with the BBC. Here we are. I knew what was going on, because Russell and Julie kept Eve and I in the loop, but we wanted it to be with the right people. I think we’ve landed on our feet with a new home, with them we wouldn’t be here.”

Myles was also happy to revise her role as Eve. “It’s so easy to slip back into Cooper’s leathers. They’re always comfortable and very warm and sexy.”

Though newcomer Phifer had never seen the series, he said he has become a fan. “I met with Julie and Russell, then fell in love with them. They gave me the third season and I watched all five episodes in one sitting and loved it. It’s going to be epic.”

As far as if we’ll find out what happened to Jack between season 3 and 4, Barrowman didn’t really think so. “You don’t really, no…I think we may never find out about that period. Maybe it can be looked at in another series.”

Phifer also said that the series will have plenty of spice! “You’ll see some butt cheeks,” he told the crowd.

When asked by an audience member id there were any pranks on set, Barrowman replied: “I think ‘I’m gonna scare the crap out of Eve’, so I go into her trailer and hunch down in her cubicle shower. Seriously. 45 minutes I sat there. 45 minutes I sat in a shower looking like I was pooping.”

  1. Torchwood is in it’s self an unqualified brilliant success, why then does it need the “Shoot ’em up, blow ’em” paranoid mental psyche of the Americans. By going down this road, in my opinion, you have ruined a brilliant series.
