Thanks to a few of our savvy readers we recently learned The Dictator will be making a move from its current filming location in New York City to Fuerteventura, Spain.
Last week Paramount held an open call for the movie which is currently looking for more than 150 extras in Fuerteventura. The shoot is expected to wrap in New York City early next month, at which time they will make a company move to Spain.
The Dictator stars Sacha Baron Cohen as a dictator who will do anything to make sure democracy doesn’t come to his country. It is loosely based on a book called Zabibah and the King by Saddam Hussein.
Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands off of the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. You can find more information about the island at Fuerteventurainfo.com.
I wonder will The Last Dictator meet The Dictator? Amazing to bring a film of this name to Fuerteventura, the home of Domingo González Arroyo, called The Last Dictator, whose boast that he was in charge of the island from the time of Franco. His story, including the overheard camera left switched on during a council meeting, to the ‘accidental’ shooting by hunters would be much more interesting story
