Ryan Gosling begins filming ‘Gangster Squad’ in Los Angeles

What a difference a few weeks can make.

Ryan Gosling just wrapped filming The Place Beyond The Pines (though the shoot continues through next week in Schenectady, NY without him) in which he played a motorcycle stuntman complete with bleached blonde hair and fake tattoos, but now he is back in L.A. and once again looking polished and dapper for his role in The Gangster Squad.

Yesterday, Ryan was spotted on set wearing a sweater vest with his hair slicked back, quite a departure from his look for Pines.

The Gangster Squad, which also stars Josh Brolin and Emma Stone, chronicles the LAPD’s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s.

On September 16 (from 9:00 AM to 7:00 AM) and on September 21 (5:00 AM – 10:00 PM) Gangster Squad is filming under the 6th St Bridge, from Santa Fe Ave to Mesquit St in Los Angeles. The scene they are shooting will include explosions, fire, and activity in the L.A. riverbed.

UPDATE: There has been a change in the schedule and filming will only take place on September 16th.

  1. I just wanted to say that I can’t believe the energy that Ryan Gosling has. Just finishing the movie ‘The Place beyond the pines’ and now off to do another movie in La. I met Ryan when he was filming at our barn, he is a great guy, and I want to wish him luck, I just wish I had his energy.

    As Always, Loretta

  2. Set construction is currently underway on Bellflower Boulevard, Bellflower CA, (as of 10-18-11). They are constructing Slapy Maxie’s nightclub.
