Though the Michigan Film Office announced last week it would not be accepting any more applications for film incentives for the 2012 fiscal year, they did just OK three new projects to be filmed in the state.
The first movie approved, Gametime, stars MSU’s Devlon Roe and follows a pair of college basketball stars. They are expected to shoot in metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and East Lansing. Beau Mirchoff has been cast to play Roe’s teammate.
The Film Office also approved a tax credit for A Dot Com Affair, which will shoot in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. The movie tells the story of a husband and wife who quickly gain and lose a fortune.
A third feature, Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Conspiracy, will be filmed at locations in Manistee and Ludington and at 10 West Studios in Manistee. The family movie is expected to be released next year.
Though none of these projects are Iron Man 3, they will bring more than a $1 million into the state’s economy.
Sparkle, starring Whitney Houston, is also shooting around Detroit. If you spot any of these movies filming, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
