The ’24’ movie will begin filming in April

There has been a lot of speculation about if and when a 24 movie would happen, and now Deadline is reporting that it is definitely happening, and sooner rather than later.

According to the story, producers are planning on getting the film into production by April, as soon as Kiefer Sutherland wraps his current project, Touch.

Here is the full report from Deadline:

The clock has started on 24, the feature version of the Imagine Entertainment/Fox series. The project brings back Kiefer Sutherland’s tireless government operative Jack Bauer. Mark Bomback — a favorite writer at 20th Century Fox writing The Wolverine and Shadow Divers – is doing some last minute tweaking of Billy Ray’s script, and will turn it in by year’s end. Imagine and the studio have about five directors in mind — no, Tony Scott is not attached anymore — and it will all begin happening very quickly in the early part of next year. The goal is to get the film into production to match Sutherland’s availability, which begins in April. That should give producer Brian Grazer something to do after he completes producing the Academy Awards, and it is certainly good news for fans of the show who were beginning to fear the project wouldn’t happen.

It’s safe to assume that the movie will be filmed in L.A., where the entire series was shot (even most of the NY season). But, if you can’t wait until spring to see Kiefer, he’s filming his new series at Winston St & Werdin Pl in L.A. all day tomorrow.

  1. My family and I are true FANS of 24. Our homework: Start viewing 24 DVDs again from pilot through season eight (including special airings). We will be ready for your film by fall or winter, 2012. Thank you, to all who have and shall contribute their time, talent, energy and funds to this endeavor, the ‘first’ 24 film.
