‘Killing Season’, starring Jon Travolta & Robert De Niro, begins filming in Rabun County, GA this week

Robert DeNiro and John Travolta are set to begin filming the suspense movie Killing Season this week in Rabun County, GA.

As we mentioned, the movie was expected to begin filming at various locations in Georgia this month.

The film’s director, Mark Steven Johnson, reportedly chose the Rabun Co. area for the effect he wanted after seeing the 1972 film Deliverance, which was also shot in the area.

Filming in Rabun County is expected to take about 10 days and is scheduled to happen at Tallulah Gorge State Park and Black Rock Mountain State Park.

In the movie, DeNiro plays a military veteran living in a remote mountain cabin. He is paid a visit by by a man (played by Travolta) who turns out to be a former Serbian soldier looking for revenge.

  1. MAYBE WE WILL BUILD RABUN COUNTY BACK UP AFTER DELEVERENCE TOOK THE NAME DOWN SO BAD HOPE SO IT DESERVES TO BE WHAT GOD MADE IT BEAUTIFUL AND SOME GOOD PEOPLE

  2. Resident here in Rabun. Friend is to deliver firewood tomorrow morning and afternoon, two loads, weather permitting, at request of production company, and was asked to recommend good restaurants. Only ten days here, DeNiro. Not much chance of running into him. Such an actor!

  3. They have started filming at Tallulah Gorge, closed over look 1 and have their stuff all over the grass, I am guessing by light trailers sitting around and Mountain Patrol wandering around they are filming at night.

  4. John Travolta was at LaCabana tonight…saw pictures of him with some locals on Facebook. Looked like he was very friendly to everyone, signing autographs and taking pictures…hope that the movie is a real hit! Rabun could use some good publicity! lol

  5. John Travolta walked into my spin class tonight at Genesis. Seemed like a really nice guy. I felt kind of bad for him since it’s hard to work out with people watching every move. I suppose it’s better than being ignored if you’re an actor. We’re getting used to famous people here in Rabun County. Of course everyone wants to have a home here. Who wouldn’t?

  6. I’m an actor/writer and i live in North Georgia (acout an hour from this location) and of course the supporting roles are given to actors with phoney southern accents and i can’t normally get cast in anything because of my southern accent. This one would have been right up my alley but none of my acting teachers or agencies gave me a call so i missed out again, which is common. Local actors are discriminated against in the casting process constantly.

    • Also, John Travolta was at our local car dealership (Duval Automotive) to buy a vehicle with his trainer. All local people say he has been very gracious and a pleasure to meet. So nice to see that famous people can also be nice and genuine.
