Last week speculated that large green screens spotted in Marina del Rey, CA may have been for the upcoming Star Trek sequel, and now it looks the first leaked photos from the set are confirming our theory.
The green screens were spotted along Jefferson Blvd, near Grosvenor Blvd, by one of our readers atrac on Feb. 23, and on Feb. 24 several photos hit the web of the movie’s cast filming on location-ย in front of giant green screens.
The photos feature Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie’s new villain, going head to head with Zachary Quinto’s Spock. Apparently, just after the photo above was taken, “Spock’s Vulcan Nerve Pinch fails and Cumberbatch’s villain regains the upper hand.”
According to Star Trek starย Zoe Saldana the movie’s director, J.J. Abrams, wasn’t happen the pictures got out. “J.J. was very upset,” she said. “I have to say that. It’s not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it’s such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise.”
As on location filming has continued in the Los Angeles this week more photos of the cast, including these photos of Zoe and co-star Chris Pine, have hit the hit the web.

It’s Marina del Rey, not “Ray” and the d is not capitalized.
Sorry, the misspelling was mine from when I originally posted the tip. It is indeed Marina del Rey. ๐
The production has installed a lot of tall barriers around the set, so you literally can’t see anything now. It was fun while it lasted, but I wouldn’t bother taking any trips to that area in hopes of seeing something because you will be disappointed. ๐
Thanks Atrac, its my fault for copy and pasting ๐ no worries
