It looks like the producers of Captain Phillips have settled on a Massachusetts filming location for the movie.
Captain Phillips stars Tom Hanks as real life ship captain Richard Phillips who allowed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in exchange for the safety of his crew. Phillips’ memoir which the movie is base on, A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, recounts his three days in captivity and his dramatic rescue.
As we reported last month, location scouts were looking for a farmhouse where Tom Hanks’ character would live and they’ve found one. According to WCVB, Part of the film will be shot at Lincoln, MA’s Matlock Farm the last week in March.
In addition to the farm, the production may shoot at other locations in Lincoln as well. “Lincoln gave them what they were looking for aesthetically, and also it was a convenient location,” Town Administrator Tim Higgins said.
The movie will only spend a couple weeks filming in Massachusetts before moving to locations in Europe.
