First look at Benjamin Walker in ‘Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight’

The HBO movie, Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, is currently shooting at 23rd St/24th St and 5th Ave in New York City and one of our readers, James, recently met two the film’s stars, Benjamin Walker and Christopher Plummer. This is the first time we’ve seen the two men in their 1960’s/1970’s style costumes.

The movie will focus on Ali’s objections to the Vietnam War and the ensuing ‘fight’ with the US government. After Ali was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, he refused to step forwarded at the armed services induction and was arrested. Since he had converted to Islam two years earlier, he argued the conflict was against his religious beliefs. Later, a series of appeals led him to the Supreme Court.

MAGF stars Plummer as Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan II and Frank Langella as Chief Justice Warren Burger. Walker co-stars as Kevin Kennedy, a Supreme Court clerk who supported Ali and wrote several briefs that helped to maintain the boxer’s status as a conscientious objector of the war.

Danny Glover, Barry Levinson, Pablo Schreiber, Ed Begley Jr., Bob Balaban and Kathleen Chalfant have also recently joined the cast.
