More details about ‘The Way, Way Back’ shoot in Marshfield, MA this summer

As we were first to report earlier this week, the upcoming Steve Carell movie, The Way, Way Back, is set to begin filming later this month in Marshfield, MA.

Now, thanks to the Patriot Ledger, we’ve learned more about part of the shoot, which will take place over three weeks at a home in Green Harbor.

For three weeks in July, Marshfield’s Green Harbor neighborhood will be the filming site for the independent movie The Way, Way Back starring actor Steve Carell, who, besides being a famous film and TV star, is a part-time Marshfield resident and local business owner.

George Parra, executive producer of The Way, Way Back said filming is slated to take place between July 9 and 27, primarily at one home on Bay Avenue. He said other locations in the area, including Green Harbor Beach, could be featured in the film.

Steve Carell, who is a Massachusetts native, is also the owner of the Marshfield Hills General Store and spends most summers in the area with his family.

The Way, Way Back, which also stars Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Sam Rockwell, and AnnaSophia Robb, follows a teenage boy who, over the course of a summer vacation, develops a friendship that gives him the courage to stand up to his alcoholic stepfather and reconnect with his mother.
