In the latest edition of our “Featured Reader” series, Michael (@MichaelZomick) shares a few of his favorite celeb sightings and experiences. He’s been lucky enough to meet everyone from David Spade to Joan Rivers!
Recently we did a Q & A with Michael about his celeb sightings, check it out below:
Who was the nicest celeb you’ve met?
Joan Rivers. Hands down. She had no problem taking a picture with me and signing an autograph for me but refused to take a picture with anyone else. haha
Who was your favorite or least favorite?
David Ortiz. I met him in an elevator, so scary. And Jonah Hill was nasty and mean and didn’t even acknowledge I was talking to him.
Who haven’t you met that you are dying to meet?
Adam Sandler, Tom Hanks, Cast of iCarly, Cast of Victorious, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato (no particular order)
What advice would you have for anyone who wants to meet celebrities? Where have you had lucky meeting celebs?
Play it cool when meeting a celeb. Most of them HATE taking pictures. Ask for your picture and move along with your life. Don’t scream in their face and ask questions. For best places to meet celebs are usually on the streets of LA or NYC, high scale restaurants or bars, and find out if there are any celebrities that have any shows (ex. concerts, stand up acts, plays) around your area and wait outside the stage door to try to meet them. I meet Joan Rivers this way in Boston, Matthew Broderick after his show on Broadway, Nick Jonas after his show on Broadway, and Daniel Radcliffe after his show on Broadway as well.
Michael also recently met David Spade in Boston!

OMG, Michael, seems you have the same tactics I used in Chicago in the ’50’s. Celebrities, are after all people, some nice, some not so nice. I remember freezing outside the stage door of the Chicago theatre with a friend waiting for Patti Page. When we tried to slip inside the doorman chashed us out. Miss Page told him you let these girls stay inside until they get warmed up. She went to her dressing-room and brought us both 8×10 glossy autographed photos. However we were nearly trampled in the alley outside the Oriental theatre when Johnny Ray, he was briefly hot, for his record Cry, threw photos from the fire-escape!
