30 + fan photos from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ premiere in NYC

We had several reader and friends end us photos from The Dark Knight Rises premiere last Monday night in New York City.

Event attendees included the film’ stars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nestor Carbonell, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, and Morgan Freeman, along with celebrity Batman fans like Aziz Ansari, Michelle Trachtenberg, Penn Badgley, Regis and Joy Philbin, Donald and Melania Trump, Ron HowarJuno Temple, and Russell Simmons.

Our first few photos was sent to us by Chris who spotted Marion Cotillard, Aziz Ansari, and Ron Howard on the red carpet.

Denise also stopped by the premiere but was disappointed by the set up for fans. “I just walked the perimeter trying to scope out where the best place to stand was,” she told us. “I chose to hang out near the arrivals area. Security had no place for fans to stand so they kept shooing us off the sidewalk and told us to stand across the street, then they shooed us from across the street! Finally they decided to set up a spot, but it was half way down the block and impossible to see anything! I stayed there for about 10 seconds and then left and went back to my original spot. Security then decided to just set up barricades at the corners where everyone was standing anyway, but this wasn’t until the end of the arrivals.”

We have heard from others that the AMC 68th St Theater, where the premiere was held, is not the best for fans, unless you are able to get there very early.

Nonetheless, Denise was able to get a few celeb shots which you can check out below:

Dan G. also attended the premiere and had slightly better luck seeing celebs. Here is his story and photos:

“I was lucky enough to secure a great spot for The Dark Knight Rises World Premiere! It was an extremely long day and it was the most unorganized event I have ever attended. I was there since around 7 am and met other fans throughout the day. They were only setting up the morning of so no one could camp out for a great spot or anything. They didn’t even let anyone into the fan area until around 4:30 or 5 pm, so people who were only there for a couple of hours were getting in ahead of people who were there the entire day. Anyway, I was lucky enough to secure a nice spot and get some great pictures. Afterwords, I waited on the side of the theater and met/got autographs from Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Juno Temple, and Nester Carbonell.”

Finally, our friend Tom Murro attended the premiere and after party at the New York Public Library and shared a few insights with us as well. First he told us “Morgan Freeman takes time out to greet kids on the carpet” (see below).

He also said the screening itself had an unusual set up in in which the celebs watched the film in a different theater in IMAX while everyone else watched it on a regular screen. VIPs also had their own goodie area set up behind a black curtain in the lobby!

Tom also mentioned that security seemed tighter than normal at Monday’s premiere. “I didn’t think much of it at the time, but security that night seemed to be on high alert,” Tom said.

Of course, as we all know, 12 people were killed and 58 others were injured during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado on Friday and as a result Warner Bros. has canceled all further promotional events for the film.

For those of you, like us, who want to help the victims of Friday’s shooting, you can make a donation to one of these established organizations in the Denver area which will be helping the victim now and in the future.

On a personal note, we’d also encourage everyone to read this blog post by one of the victims, Jessica Redfield, who had narrowly escaped another shooting in Toronto last month. In it she writes, “I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given.” A lesson for us all.
