‘Carrie’ remake continues filming famous Prom Scene in Toronto today

Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, @jthecritic, we’ve confirmed Carrie, the remake of the famous 1976 horror flick, is shooting the movie’s iconic prom scene today at a school on Mt. Pleasant Rd in Toronto, ON (most likely, Northern Secondary).

UPDATE: Filming location at Eglinton Ave and Mt. Pleasant Rd in Toronto.

This week Entertainment Weekly also released the first photos of the new Carrie, Chloë Grace Moretz, covered in blood, just as Sissy Spacek was in the original.

About the bloody shoot she told the mag, ”We only have, like, four chances to get it right because that stuff stains your hair.”

Check out pics of both below and let us what you think, can Moretz fill Spacek’s (blood-filled) shows?

  1. This is one of the all-time dumbest movie remake ideas in cinema history. Who could possibly care about a new version? The original is brilliant with a perfect cast. The surprises and jolts are genius. Sometimes, Hollywood greed is just so reprehensible. Those early images show a cheesy re-do. The blood effects look really bad. Whoever that pointless actress is, well, she’s no Sissy Spacek. They claim these remakes are for a new group of teenagers, but any teenager has already seen the first and best “Carrie.” This new version will be a major dud at the box office.

  2. I really agree! Why remake a classic with a cast which the director has just gone for looks? The AMAZING cast from the 1976 Carrie won’t be beaten by any remake, Piper Lauries Margaret White has to be the most scariest movie mum I’ve ever scene and Betty Buckleys Miss Collins (Dejardin) is just perfect. Everyone in the original were just amazing! And the blood effect looks so bad! The 1976 Carrie had way better effects and you won’t be able to beat the prom scene or the ending either…. aka give up now, no point

  3. I agree that this is a “dumb” movie. The so-called special effects are tacky looking. I can tell you first hand: they are filming just out back for a week now, converting the corner garage to an “American version.” Businesses are almost impossible to get at; so they give $500.00 for the week to them! Cheap! And a cheap movie. I’ll go and take some photos so I can show you just how cheap it looks. Sorry.

  4. they were filming on my street and i must say they were doing a pretty good job on what i saw. but they were also filming in mississauga and thats where i watched it from and id like for us to get some credit. and by “us” i mean the city of mississauga to get some credit. and i watched them film the part with the pigs blood, and they did NOT do it in 4 takes… it was more like 13! it was pretty boring watching them do that 13 times. but you get what you get. they were also filming at Port Credit High School, and their holding place was the Cawthra community center both ni mississauga/ port credit. and i dont think people should be complaining about there being a new remake… you guys never know, it could be better because now theres newer and better technology than what they had in 1976 or whatever the year was. id give it a chance if i were you.
