While TV and movie productions filming in NYC are getting anxious to get back to work, The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting is saying not so fast.
According to an updated alert on the office’s website, they will not be issuing any permits for exterior shoots until at least Friday due Hurricane Sandy.
Due to the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy and continuing safety precautions, there will be no permits issued for filming at exterior locations in the five boroughs from Wednesday, October 31 until at least Friday, November 2, 2012. Permits will be issued only for parking at qualified stages. Permits will be processed starting Wednesday, October 31. There will be no City authorized outdoor filming within the five boroughs. Productions should check www.nyc.gov/film for future updates as well as www.twitter.com/madeinny.
Though productions can’t film on the street, they will be able to film in their home studios (i.e. Broadway Stages, Silvercup Studios, Chelsea Piers, etc).
Well the film industry will remain in flux through the end of the week, things on Broadway are starting to get back to normal today as most shows have returned to the stage, and most filmed-in-NYC talk shows are back in production too (with full audiences).
