‘Winter’s Tale’s film shoot in Red Hook, Brooklyn has some residents up in arms

Winter’s Tale, starring Matt Bomer, Russell Crowe, Will Smith, Jennifer Connolly and Colin Farrell, has worn out its welcome in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn where cast and crew have been filming some exterior shots, as well as interiors in an industrial building.

The movie’s trucks, trailers, and film equipment have been blocking sidewalks and parking spaces for nearly three weeks, causing some residents to complain.

Interestingly, unlike most NYC locations that have parking permits posted for film vehicles, none have been spotted in Red Hook either.

A spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment said, “The production was only able to be in the vicinity of Red Hook because it utilized two private parking lots for the majority of their vehicles….Only a minimal amount of essential production vehicles have been parked on the street.”

  1. Colin Farrell is a driving force for FAST,…the foundation for Angelman Syndrome, from which his son James has. He has attended their Gala every year since it’s formation. His Warner’s contract stipulated he not work on Dec. 1st for that reason. He was told on Friday after the days shooting he would have a 4 am call Sunday morning. He was clearly disappointed when he SYYPED with the crowd of 600. “We can’t work you on Saturday, but you’ll have an 4am Sunday call” Clearly they wanted to finish and leave the area. Colin said next year his contract will say he can’t work the weekend! He was SKYPING for his trailer where he was going to sleep instead of even going to his hotel.
