‘Spider-Man 2’ updates: production moves forward in L.A., Emma Stone & Shailene Woodley finally meet

In addition to some of the casting scoop we revealed last month, we have another tidbit about production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is expected to begin principal photography in NYC and Los Angeles in February.

Today we’ve learned they’re gearing up to start work on the movie’s special effects at Ironhead Studios in L.A., possibly next week. According to their website, “Iron Head is an effects firm specializing in costume and creature design.” We’re not sure exactly what they’ll be working on at Ironhead, but we’re excited to hear production is heating up!

As for the fate of Gwen Stacy, Emma Stone is keeping mum. During an interview with MTV this week the actress discussed her role in the movie, but wouldn’t reveal whether or not Gwen will live to see Spider-Man 2. She was happy to talk about her new co-star, Shailene Woodley who will play Mary Jane Watson, though. Emma said she had dinner with Shailene recently, adding, “She’s really, really nice, she’s a cool girl.” You can check out the video here.

  1. Not another blowup in MJ casting! It isn’t that heard to pick a redhead with striking features! Jane Levy and Eline Satine would be better choices than Woodley. They are great actresses and have the MJ look! Woodley will be a worse choice for Mary Jane than Dunst!
