Producers of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have agreed to adjust the film’s production for Passover.
Columbia Pictures agreed to work with Orthodox Jewish leaders who urged them to reschedule filming in Williamsburg, Brooklyn during the festival of Passover, which begins tomorrow.
Their filming schedule would have had them shutting down several streets in the area from March 22-27, but elected officials were concerned this would cause parking problems for Jewish residents as driving is restricted during the eight-day period.
City Councilman Stephen Levin announced last week that Columbia Pictures agreed to curtail production in the area over Passover.
“We expressed the importance for Spider-Man to pass-over filming during Passover and they have answered our call,” he wrote. “Reducing the amount of parking the production uses will avoid the parking struggle that had been anticipated and will allow everyone celebrating the opportunity to safely enjoy the holiday with friends and family. I want to thank Columbia Pictures, Spider-Man, and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting for working together with my office, Community Board 1, and local leaders and considering the needs of my constituents. Thank you for letting my people park.”
Based on a few recent casting calls, it looks like the next time The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be filming exterior scenes on location will be 4/1-4/5, 4/8-4/12 and 4/15. If you spot The Amazing Spider-Man 2 filming in NYC, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
